Selectively Mean Mom

Today Jess had dance rehearsal for about 3 hours. It was a little crazy. It was also during dinner time so she was sure she would starve right to death! To make it even worse, I had to pick up a few things at the grocery store on the way home. I told her before we went in that we would be eating at home tonight...don't howl for things. I broke down and let her pick out some ice cream for an after dinner treat. ( Like it really takes any persuading for me to buy ice cream! ) She started asking for things in the check out line. I told her no and no and no. She asked me how come I am such a mean mom. I always tell her because I practice. By the time we had gotten to the car she had forgotten about the lack of extra treats and was excited about having ice cream. I told her mean moms do not share ice cream. She told me I was only a mean Kit Kat mom, not a mean ice cream mom. It's a good thing she explained it to me or she wouldn't have gotten any!

Happy Birthday from Pollyanna

Happy Schmappy Birthday to me!

So, I know this is late, not that anyone is surprised...but I wanted to say thanks to the girls for the fun birthday lunch. ( I wrote proper Thank You notes and delivered about half of them so far..duh.) And then to make it even sweeter, Pollyanna (who has entirely admirable talents) made me a fantastic fondant mad hatter birthday cake! She made the fondant out of marshmallow so it tasted as wonderful as it looked! I took pictures of the art.

Jess and Wes on the first day of Kindergarten

Jess and Wes on the first day of Kindergarten
Jess woke up on this particular morning in rare form. She usually doesn't care what she's wearing; her birthday suit is just as good as anything else. On this day inparticular, she informed me that she didn't want any bows or bands and that she had her clothes picked out. Was that Kindergarten or 8th grade?
