pRoJeCts

We had a wonderful crazy weekend! Jessica had her first friend birthday party (that deserves an entry of it's own)and fun family drove a good distance to visit. It was delightful. Jess had a fantastic time with her cousins. Her uncle peeked in her room to see what kind of mischief the girls were up to. Jess told him " I'm working on a project adults can't see. Could you please leave?" Later I asked her what her top-secret project was. She was using the gift bags from her birthday party to "dress up like a rectangle". Nice project!

GROW UP!

I don't wear a watch. I used to, but I never looked at it. I forgot it was there. I got a load of stupid looks from people who were kind enough to tell the time to a girl wearing a watch. Since I can't tell the time from the angle of the sun in the house, I use PBS. Mr. Rogers comes on at 6:30 am followed by Arthur at 7:00. There are 2 episodes. Jess has to be out of bed and ready to eat breakfast by the end of Mr. Rogers. She needs to be done eating by the end of the first episode of Arthur, and dressed ready to go out the door by the end of the second one.

This morning we were getting ready for school and watching Arthur, right on schedule. Jess watched for a second and then in an exasperated tone said, " Mom, in every Arthur Kate is still a baby, Arthur is always not old enough, and DW is always four. I wish they would just grow up! Teen Arthur and prepubescent DW. I think they'd have to change networks.

Handy Jessie

The sink in Jessica's bathroom is tricky. When it's turned on, random streams of water shoot outward instead of downward into the sink. You can wash your hands and the front of your shirt at the same time. I know this sounds like a great invention for children, but sometimes it gets on the floor too. So I took the bathroom sink apart..not the entire thing, just the part where the water comes out that holds the screen thinger. Yes, as you can tell by the technical terms, I am a professional sink fixer. I cleaned the screen thinger and the rest of it, reassembled the parts (correctly!) and then tried to put it back on. I had to turn upside down to see the place to screw it in. Jessica came in to watch the show. She asked me to leave so she could use the restroom. I started on another project in the mean time and forgot all about it until later that evening. I turned the water on and it was fixed. I said I guess Steve must have gotten dowsed and decided to take matters into his own hands. Then Jessica announced that SHE had fixed it! WOW! My girl the plumber. She has the crack thing going on. I should have guessed she hand the mad assembly skills that go with it! Go Loolie!

Se Hablah Espanyol

Jess wanted to know what was for diner. I could have told her ice cream and she would have complained, so I told the truth; chicken enchiladas. OHHHHHH! she sighs. I hate chicken enchilachos! Yep, we're fluent.

She's got a nose for that!

We were on our way to Gramma Kim's house, Jess safely strapped in the back, just beginning our journey. We heard her sniffing A LOT. I asked her what she was doing. She said she was sniffing. I deserved that. Sniffing what? I asked. She was sniffing to see if it smelled like Payson yet, but it didn't. It still smelled like Idaho. I asked her when we finally arrived if it smelled like Payson. She sniffed and told me it still smelled like Idaho. I guess they have similar scents! If it were a Scentsy smell, I think it would be Dairy Air DeLight! SNIIIIFFFFF!

Beauty and brrrrr...

A Gelid Satuday Morning

The entire out of doors was frost-bound, even when the sun peeped over the horizon. It was cold and lovely. The sun eventually mustered enough shine to melt it a bit. Ahhh..sunshine!

Happy Birthday from Pollyanna

Happy Schmappy Birthday to me!

So, I know this is late, not that anyone is surprised...but I wanted to say thanks to the girls for the fun birthday lunch. ( I wrote proper Thank You notes and delivered about half of them so far..duh.) And then to make it even sweeter, Pollyanna (who has entirely admirable talents) made me a fantastic fondant mad hatter birthday cake! She made the fondant out of marshmallow so it tasted as wonderful as it looked! I took pictures of the art.

Jess and Wes on the first day of Kindergarten

Jess and Wes on the first day of Kindergarten
Jess woke up on this particular morning in rare form. She usually doesn't care what she's wearing; her birthday suit is just as good as anything else. On this day inparticular, she informed me that she didn't want any bows or bands and that she had her clothes picked out. Was that Kindergarten or 8th grade?
